” I just couldn’t keep it to myself!”

Summarized by Cathey Stewart

Elder Bennie Stewart spoke of the leper whom Jesus healed and told him not to tell anyone, but to show himself to the priest.

The man was so overjoyed he began spreading the good news. The man disobeyed God by doing what he was told not to do.

Failure to comply with God’s/Christ’s word can result in death, but that did not happen in this case. In another instance Moses was told to speak to the rock, but his smote it. This disobedience led to consequences.

Obedience is better than sacrifice. The leper could not keep it to himself because he had a testimony and he gave God the praise.

Eld Stewart spoke of people who God does things for or uses them and they want to blow the trumpet for themselves and not give God the glory.

When God does something for us and it is hard to keep it to ourselves, we must give praise to God for what He has done. We must testify through hard times – where is our joy.

He spoke of when in 1983 he turned 38 and decided that was going to be his year. He went to a club and either went to sleep or passed out in the parking lot and was there all night. But God. God kept him during that time. It was that incident that he decided to go to church that Sunday. He got saved and God took away all his sins and he could not keep it to himself.
